Thankful in November

Welcome to November! October has come and gone in the blink of an eye. We had a succesful month and a wonderful Harvest Fest. Thanks so much to all of you who generously gave to our candy drive and who donated time to our duckie booth!
On to November. This month we are moving on to adding double digits. Everyone did great on the pre-test and we are ready to start carrying by next week.
In Literacy, we are of course continuing our Saxon phonics. In addition, we will be working on detailed paragraph structure and spelling.
This month will be the beginning of our New World unit. We will study the Native Americans and the coming of the pilgrims to America. We will also study gratitude and ponder on the things that we are thankful for!
Keep posted for announcements regarding more holiday celebrations at La Paloma and break dates.
Have a super week!

One quarter down!

Here we are, nearly one-quarter over. It is remarkable how fast time flies and how much your children have progressed.  I am very happy with our latest round of reading assesments. Every student in my class made considerable improvements in the area of reading, writing and comprehension. That is fantastic and makes me look forward to the next quarter. It will be a quick one. We all know how fast the holidays go by and before we know it, it is January of a new year.  We will be working very intensely in the second quarter to meet all of the benchmarks we need.
But until then, let's talk about upcoming events.  We will have two and a half days of school this week.
Remember, Thursday and Friday there will be no school.  October 29th  LPA will have our Harvest Fest
Celebration. Our class will have a duck pond with prizes as our booth. I am in need of volunteers to man the booth that night as well as lots of candy and prize donations, if possible. It should be a super fun night for
the entire family.
I hope you have a great little break this weekend and do something relaxing and fun with your family.
You deserve it.  See you next week!
P.S. No spelling words this week!
